Some people avoid eating pasta, because they think it’s “fattening”. Eating too much of any food can cause your waistline to expand. A healthy diet that includes pasta, however, can be good for your waistline. Lots of studies link whole grains to a healthier body weight and a recent study found that pasta, in particular, was good for the waistline. Researchers from Northwestern University in Chicago looked at the eating habits of almost 1,800 men and women ranging in age from 40 to 59. Higher intakes of fresh fruit, pasta and rice and lower intakes of meat were associated with a lower body weight. Diets that included these foods were also higher in nutrients and lower in calories. Bottom line… whole grain pasta is a healthy food that fits into a healthy diet and can be good for your waistline too.
